My Brother Was Murdered in the Diamond Heights District

Our case, CRI-22014339, has been held up in court and during Pre-Lim, we faced the violent, murderous defendant being released to an alcohol program! The stabbing took our family member away, a Black man without a criminal background, while a white woman seems to receive leniency even as we move into trial. We don't trust the tactics of the judge or the D.A. at this point as we are being told to not attend court as much as we do and we simply don’t have the legal background to navigate the politics associated with the hearings, the Defense's tactics and the upcoming jury trial process! We want accountability for a crime that a white woman without a "documented" criminal record committed against a Black man that served the San Francisco community. We need accountability of the DA's practices for families and communities. We need real support and eyes on these processes that leave victims and communities vulnerable!

My views about crime in San Francisco have changed in that in 15 months moving toward trial, the legal process is biased and offers different offerings of justice to white women that have confessed to committing a crime. The DA's office is dismissive and seems to be colluding with the defense attorney of a murderer. The family and the victims in this matter, as well as communities in this district, deserve justice and transparency for crimes committed. The politics and ulterior motives of the DAs office as well as judges' leniency on violent crimes needs to be exposed and shared with victims during the court process.
